July 2008 Newsletter

Dear friends:  Everyone says we are in a recession. So we are having a recession BINGO at our July meeting. (remember rent parties and garage sales to meet the monthly budget?) All members attending are asked to gift wrap and bring one food item that comes in a box, a can, a package or a jar . Consider  such  foods as  crackers, cake mix, puddings, jello, tea, lemonade, noodles, raisins, dried fruit, cookies, bread mix, pancake mix, chips, au gratin potatoes, sardines, tuna, snacks, trail mix, cereal, jelly, jam, peanut butter, brownie  mix….anything that will be edible when you open it and follow the directions.

In June our society presented three $500.00 scholarships to : Anna Swierczek Gayer, granddaughter of Richard Swierczek. She will attend Lesley College. Michael Harrington, grandson of George and Josephine Hart. He will attend Wheaton College. Janusz Solanowski`, born in Warsaw and now graduating from Falmouth High School .He will attend Vassar College. Historical Tidbit: the first scholarship was awarded in 1980 to past president Mary Embree’s niece who is now Dr. Sally Ann Linowski who is at U Mass Amherst as associate director of University Health and Services. She is  a consultant to the US Department of Education .

Father Marek’s Polish Festival June 28 and 29. Mass at 11 on Sunday at Holy Trinity on Route 28 in Harwich. Wear Polish dress and sit in front if possible. We will have a table in the tent on Sunday  at Our Lady off the Annunciation Chapel in Dennisport on Upper County Road. Stop by our Booth to say WITAJ.
