May 6, 2012 we will be celebrating Polish Constitution Day

On May 6, 2012 we will be celebrating Polish Constitution Day with
a luncheon at the Yarmouth House on Route 28 in West Dennis.
The luncheon will start at 12:30.

Meeting at the West Dennis Graded School

Tag Sale: Members who will work at the tag sale will meet at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 4 to set up for the sale. ( If you want to work at the tag sale, you will be there to take part in the readiness.) The sale will run from 9-2p.m. and coffee and donuts and lunch sandwiches will be supplied for the workers. President Beverly Zagodowski will try to get into the hall the day before to set up the tables. PLEASE LOOK AROUND YOUR HOUSE….THERE MUST BE SOME ITEMS YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE TO…If you need pickup of your items you can call Beverly.. Or take your items to her. WE ARE NOT HAVING A BAKE SALE; JUST A TAG SALE.

Even though it rained we had 41 people at the picnic. Renee Hobbs came with games and a sing-along contest that was well sung by all. MaryLou Zdanovich prepared sand pails filled with “goodies” and Wanda got a birthday cake!

Remember all those at home alone who bravely meet the new day.

Helena Hall passed away on 8/1/2011 after a long battle with cancer. She served as our president in 2010 and resigned only when her treatments pre-vented her from continu-ing in office. She was an inspiration to all of us, and lifted our spirits with her ever-friendly smile. Her courage gave many of us the courage to face our own battles. Thank you, Helena, for your in-spiration. Rest in peace.

Former Preseident Edmund Jagodowski is concerned about the closing of Mater Dolorosa Church in Holy-oke. Member Henry Dziok is on a committee to appeal the closing. The September Issue of the Journal will fea-ture Editor Mark Kohan’s article on the closing and its impact. If you wish to help in this appeal write to the Edi-tor Kohan or Henry Dziok. These closings may not all be necessary.

November 7, 2010 … 11th meeting of the year

Meeting begins at 1:00 p.m.

It is election month again and we implore our members to come forth
to help with some of the work involved in monthly meetings. It is
very important that someone (man or woman who is not an officer or
a member of the board ) take up the task of setting up the sound system.
It is equally important that 2 or 3 persons volunteer to manage
the food table and the incoming food offerings. We also need a person
to take attendance at each meeting. Our prayers will be answered
if you will come to the officers’ table at this meeting to tell the secretary
that you are the one sent to fulfill one of these tasks. Heavy work
is made light by many hands.

We welcomed two new members last month: Helen Canepari and
Helen Mandel from Sandwich. WITAMY!

Remember in your prayers: Louis and Joan Minka, Richard
Swierczek’s wife Ann, Ed Jagodowski, Genevieve Mlynarski, Helena
Hall, Robert Kurisko and anyone who is living with a medical problem.
Please remember our fallen service men, family members and
friends who have returned to the Lord and those who mourn them.

The German Club Pot Luck is on Sunday afternoon, November 14, 2010 from 2 until 6 the Portuguese-American Association of Falmouth’s Navigator Room located at 55 Ashumet Road, Hatchville, MA, very close to route 51 and Sandwich Road. 508-385-2735 is the number to call for reservations. $12 advance reserve, and $14 at the door.

A big THANK YOU to all who helped make our Easter celebration a suc- cess. The food you all shared with each other was wonderful and the pa- rade of bonnets was truly elegant. MaryLou’s table decorations were festive, Richard’s tribute to the airplane disaster was moving, and it was good to see Jeanne Risley, and Lori Phelan-Swan and Joe Banas up and about. And finally, THANK YOU, STEVEN for setting up, waiting on tables, and passing around ice cream even though it was the first day of the Red Sox season.

The scholarship committee , Ann Kane and Irene Conrad, and the board of directors met on Tuesday, April 27 at the Hyannis Library to determine the recipients of the awards.

Again a plea for helpers in the kitchen! Barbara Sosnowski has come forward to help and we need at least two more people to be on a permanent committee for this year. Being the hostesses can be wonderful if there are more hands . Won’t you please lend a hand (or two)?

MAY 29th – Tag Sale to Benefit Polish Society at the Brewster Council on Aging on 6A. Call MaryLou Dzanovich if you have items to donate.Thank you, ML, for planning this event.

We hope this year to use our presence as a fund raiser for our society by selling Polish-made items. And we hope to see some of you there on that Saturday. Mark your calendars. If you have any Polish -made items that you no longer want and are willing to donate to the society, we can arrange to pick them up and they will be used at our sale table in the vendors’ area.
